Real Clear Distortion

Written By Bitter Jon - Posted 04/26/08 - (0) Comments - Bitter News

hillary-clinton.jpgHillary supporters are back to  trying every trick in the book to fool the media and the public into thinking Clinton is winning.  Take an article at RealClearPolitics for instance.  the article, which you can read here, claims that Clinton is ahead in the popular vote.

In fact, even with Florida Clinton is behind, and Obama was not on the Michigan ballot.  The point being, any use of the Michigan data constitutes a speculation.  The distortion of the moment with Hillary fans is that any undecided voters were Obama voters.  Without Obama on the ballot, though, any voter showing up to vote undecided would count for at least one, possibly more, that simply stayed home because their candidate was not on the ballot.

I'm a huge supporter of Obama, however... I'm not going to go to the polls without his name on the ballot just to vote against Hillary.  It wouldn't serve a purpose.  I can certainly understand, though, how more militant supporters would do it.

The bottom line is when Michael Barone says the following:

"One thing many people haven't noticed about Hillary Clinton's 55 percent to 45 percent victory over Barack Obama in the Pennsylvania primary is that it put her ahead of Obama in the popular vote. Her 214,000-vote margin in the Keystone State means that she has won the votes, in primaries and caucuses, of 15,112,000 Americans, compared to 14,993,000 for Obama."

He is speculating.  The Michigan data cannot be applied, nor can the Florida data really since Clinton snuck into Florida for a stealth campaign stopped that probably confused her supporters into coming out and voting.

On the stat page for the popular vote, RCP also gives Clinton the lead with the Michigan votes.  This is OUTRAGEOUS.  This is the same as claiming a race car driver lost a race he wasn't in.  The purpose can ONLY be to give Hillary a winning category.   RealClearPolitics has completely JUMPED THE SHARK.

Sure, they put a disclaimer in.  Two asterixs at the end of the result.  Scroll all the way down and read the fine print and you'll get the truth,  Obama wasn't on the ballot.  Along with the rationale that 'uncommitted was on the ballot.'

RealClearPolitics is also distorting the popular vote total by publishing on their front page the margin with Florida.  Why count it statistically?  It was an unfought battle.  Had Obama and Clinton campaigned in Florida the numbers would have been very different.  Again it is a volatile and unscientific quantity.  RCP should be sticking to reality.

It is this sort of 'reality bending' that has marginalized these primaries.  Clinton has gone from suggesting that our votes don't matter to trying to skew the perception of votes not made.

The Michigan Math is a FRAUD!  Uncommitted does not mean "I am an Obama Voter," and without Obama on the ballot it is IMPOSSIBLE to guess accurately the number of votes he would have received.

Hopefully those states will have an opportunity to be represented, but we shouldn't forget that Hillary herself agreed, long before she thought she would be beaten, that Michigan election results would NOT count for anything.

VIDEO - Bill Clinton Tries To Distory Jesse Jackson Comments, uses profanity

Written By Bitter Jon - Posted 04/22/08 - (0) Comments - Bitter News

Bill Clinton swears he's not a racist.  Seriously... he swears about being called a racist.  Ever since Clinton's snide reply to the question of why Obama was hard to beat was "Well, Jesse Jackson won South Carolina" the accusation of at the very least condescending to African Americans has dogged the volatile former president.  Now he's completely crossed the line.

In an interview with WHYY, Clinton distorts the record by saying that the comment came from a conversation he was having with two African American congressmen.  We dug up the video.  This is simply not true.  The statement was made as a reply to why two Clinton's were not able to beat Obama.  The reply is in very poor taste and while not containing the level of hate associated with full fledged racism, was certainly dismissive.  Clinton knew he was wrong almost immediately, and tried to turn the subject around to both men running very well orchestrated campaigns.   So our choices are:  he was being dismissive of Obama's victory in South Carolina by suggesting it was a rite of race that brought the win, or he is agreeing that the Obama campaign is superior to Clinton's.  We know that Bill's ego wouldn't allow that.

The worst part though, comes at the end of the interview.  Thinking he is not online, Clinton says:

"I don't think I should take any shit from anyone on that."

Maybe what he should take Sh*t on, if not his blatantly racist tone, is his feeble attempt to revise the history of the event.  He even went as far as to try to draw parallels between the event and Obama's alleged elitism.   Clinton claims there was a conspire in place to make him appear racist.  How would the Obama campaign be so sure that he would make the racially charged comment? Seems like a case of 'Blame the victim'

Clinton Supporters: "She needs a miracle"

Written By Bitter Jon - Posted 04/21/08 - (0) Comments - Bitter News

``I am a big believer that she needs either one, the popular or the delegate count,'' in order to make a case for why she should be the nominee, New Jersey Governor Jon Corzine, a Clinton backer, said in an interview.

``Popular vote matters,'' says Steve Grossman, a marketing executive and one of Clinton's top fundraisers. ``If there is an opportunity for her to pick up enough popular votes, that is a powerful calling card to the superdelegates to say the will of the people is a split decision.''

``The analogy I would put out there is she has to have a near-perfect game in baseball,'' says Borick. ``If she squeaks out a couple-point win, the math goes from bad to awful.''

Clinton will be looking to make the ``momentum argument'' if she can pull off victories in most of the remaining primaries -- arguing that would prove that hers is the campaign that is now ``clicking on all cylinders.'' That argument, he adds, is ``a hard one to make if you don't have the popular vote and you don't have the delegate count.''

Republicans 'Cling' To Bittergate

Written By Bitter Jon - Posted 04/21/08 - (0) Comments - Bitter News

Oh, those silly republicans.  Melissa Hart, one of many Republicans 'fired' by Americans at the polls in 2006, is attempting to use bittergate to her favor.  Is this an indication that Bittergate still has traction amongst conservatives?  Or just that Republicans are absolutely intent on re-writing the dictionary, the same way they made 'liberal' into a dirty word?  Do we really need MORE illiterate politicians?

Think about it, if the Republicans had just slightly better reading comprehension skills, maybe they would have understood the danger being eluded to in the memo titled

"Bin Laden determined to strike in US"

Particularly the line that read:

"...indicates patterns of suspicious activity in this country consistent with preparations for hijackings or other types of attacks, including recent surveillance of federal buildings in New York..."

Imagine if we had shaken down airline security in the same way we've grounded thousands of travelers to makeup for the errors of outsourced maintenance inspectors? How many lives would have been saved if the Republicans were more interested in understanding words, than changing our perception of them.

Melissa Hart, good luck with your blatant disinformation, and attempts to 'reprogram' the vocabulary of your would be constitutes. Republicans everwhere, please continue to show us how you like to twist words.  Maybe it will explain why you can't heed blatant warnings, or understand intelligence estimates that could have headed off a costly war that killed our brave soldiers and turned world sentiment against us.

New Poll - Clinton Lead Suffering, Gender Primary Divide

Written By Bitter Jon - Posted 04/21/08 - (0) Comments - Bitter News

SurveyUSA released poll data today that shows some interesting demographics.  Without a doubt, gender, age, and race are the factors to watch here.

The overall score is Clinton 50% vs Obama 44% with 2% undecided, and 4% in the other bracket.  Margin of error: 3.8%.   This seems to echo Obama's own prediction that he will not win, but it will be extremely close.

The breakdown of the numbers show Obama getting 53% of the males, with a large percentage of his votes coming from prime consumer age of 18-49.  37% of women said they'd choose Obama.

Clinton only gets 38% of the males, but 60% of the woman.  Her base is in voters between the ages of 35, with her largest base being over 65.

When it comes to the issue of race, it appears - for now - that Gov. Rendell's nearly racist prediction that Pennsylvanian's aren't ready to vote for a black man may be somewhat true.  36% of Whites said they would vote for Obama, with 58% backing Clinton.  Among Blacks, only 11% break for Clinton, while 87% go for Obama.

Clinton Vendors Have Something to be Bitter About

Written By Bitter Jon - Posted 04/21/08 - (0) Comments - Bitter News

money.pngWith one day to go before Pennsylvania it appears the Clinton campaign is not only clinging to borrowed time, but borrowed money as well.  The Clinton campaign has cornered itself with debt trying to keep up with the well funded and liquid Obama campaign.  The buzz this morning is that Obama has been filling his coffers at a rate of 5 to 1,  Clinton has not even been able to break even.

In the AP story, it is revealed that Mark Penn, Clinton's former campaign head who left after it was revealed he was supporting trade deals that were in direct opposition with Clinton's public statements on trade, is one of the people owed the most money at this point:

Nearly half of Clinton's debt in March is money owed to the firm of her demoted former chief strategist, Mark Penn. The report shows that the campaign owes $4.6 million to Penn, Schoen & Berland Associates. The campaign already has paid the firm $14 million, including $3 million in March for polling and direct mail.

There are other accusations circulating that staffers have been living high on the hog, maxing out expense accounts with top of the line accommodations and dining.

Clinton's talking heads have, of course, found a way to turn all of this around on Obama by implying that if he has more money to spend he should be doing better in the races against the 'underdog' Clinton.  Leave it to the Clinton camp to think voters opinions can be turned by the flashing of money.  Only a TRUE elitist would insinuate that a candidate can 'buy' votes.

Shame On ABC!

Written By Bitter Jon - Posted 04/17/08 - (2) Comments - Bitter News

080416_Clinton_Obama3.jpg
After weeks of artificial controversies it would have been nice for ABC to take the high ground and give us a night on the issues.  But did they?  No.

The question is, who is served best by ABC's relentless exploration of everything from Bittergate to Ayergate?  And what about the things we thought we'd finally heard the last of, like Rev. Wright and Flag Pins?

Worse yet, even when discussing tax policies the moderators continued to try to summon the semantic myth over whether Social Security falls under the 'tax' umbrella.  Debate?  More like an inquisition.

Thankfully, we can all look at it like this.   ABC clearly had the intent of joining with Hillary Clinton's campaign and their 'kitchen sink' strategy, but at the end of the day will hitting Barack with all of the ineffective controversies at once make they any more effective than they have up until this point?

If you're like me, your opinion on the hyperbole saturated 'controversies' is "Who Cares?"  The only thing that would shake my support for Obama would be a convincing pitch from Hillary Clinton on the issues.  When they did talk issues, they returned to the same issues that have been turned over again and again; giving neither candidate the opportunity to woo new voters.

Total. Waste. Of. Time.

Clinton Lead Shrinks in the Wake of Bittergate Ads

Written By Bitter Jon - Posted 04/16/08 - (6) Comments - Bitter News

Pennsylvanians are not buying it.  Clinton, who surged slightly but sharply yesterday, has begun to slump in the composite poll data, allowing a slightly surging Obama to close the gap to a mere 6.7%

One poll, from Public Policy Polling, has Obama in the lead by 6%.   The pollsters have been looking directly for the impact of Bittergate, without finding any real damage done.

"PPP has been in the field now in both Pennsylvania and North Carolina since Obama's
'bitter' remarks and has seen no ill effects for Barack Obama," said Dean Debnam,
President of Public Policy Polling.  "It doesn't appear the Clinton campaign has been able
to gain any momentum with this issue."

Clinton currently leads Obama in Indiana by a statistically irrelevant 4%, with 12% of those polled undecided. (This according to RCP's composites of all polling data.)

Obama's latest gains amount to an increase of .7%, in comparison to her loss of .8%, with a composite of 9.5% undecided, versus yesterdays 10%.  This would indicate a minute drift of Clinton supporters to Obama, OR a minute drift of undecideds for Obama with some Clinton voters going back to the undecided column, and perhaps a few of Obama's supporters slipping into undecided, but any of his losses were recaptured and built on, while Clinton's losses, however minute, were not refreshed.

The good news for Obama is that if this is a beginning of a trend away from Clinton because of BitterGate, and he chooses to play to public sentiment that is largely aghast of her tactics in tonight's debate, or worse yet for Clinton - if she decides to continue to try to sell the bitter/elite distortion, her descent could be accelerated  making way for a surprise Obama victory in Pennsylvania.

Obama Rebounds Slightly In PA

Written By Bitter Jon - Posted 04/16/08 - (1) Comments - Bitter News

Despite Hillary Clinton's continued effort to press the elitist/bitter issue, Barack has recovered from a slight dip in Pennsylvania.  According to RealClearPolitics composite of the polls for PA, Barack gained back 1.2% to stay above the 40% mark, while Clinton still hovers at nearly 50%.  The number to watch is the uncommitted 10%.  Clinton will likely win, but with uncommitted voters tending to break for Obama at the polls he could end up making the  victory marginal.  Of course, HillDog could keep on playing he Pennsylvanians for gullible and swift boat herself under the bus.  But let's not get carried away with out optimism.
